ZEHO ECO Launches China's First Foundational Large Model for Marine Ecological Restoration "ShorelineGLM," Decoding a New Vision for Sustainable Ocean Development

2025/06/12 4

Recently, ahead of the 17th World Oceans Day and the 18th National Ocean Awareness Day, ShorelineGLM (v1.0) – China's first vertical large model in the field of marine ecological restoration, jointly developed by ZEHO ECO, the Third Institute of Oceanography of the Ministry of Natural Resources, and Zhipu AI – successfully passed official acceptance and was formally released. The launch of this model actively responds to this year's theme of "Protecting Marine Ecosystems, Harmonious Coexistence between Humanity and Nature." It provides innovative technological support for marine ecological restoration work and is expected to play a significant role in advancing marine ecological protection and sustainable development. The model also offers an efficient and powerful intelligent platform for research institutions participating in marine ecological restoration.

ZEHO ECO Releases China's First Foundational Large Model for Marine Ecological Restoration

Based on Zhipu AI's advanced model foundation, ShorelineGLM leverages the massive technical knowledge from the MNR Key Laboratory of Marine Ecological Protection and Restoration, and ZEHO ECO's engineering practices in waterfront ecological restoration. It was fine-tuned using training sets generated via multi-agent collaboration, establishing a synergistic architecture of a "foundational cognitive base + vertical domain engine." Its core data originates from the laboratory's technical R&D achievements, integrated with domestic marine industry standards, academic monographs, and typical engineering cases. This has formed a marine knowledge graph covering the entire chain of marine ecosystem knowledge. The model already possesses initial agent capabilities in areas such as comprehensive shoreline remediation and coastal zone ecological restoration design assistance.

Benchmarking tests show that compared to mainstream general large models, ShorelineGLM's ability to provide specific, accurate data examples in responses improved by over 15%, and its capability to generate accurate examples increased by more than 10%. It can efficiently perform six core tasks, including content generation and policy analysis, precisely addressing the challenges of interdisciplinary collaboration and massive data processing in marine ecological restoration.

Since jointly establishing the "Key Laboratory of Marine Ecological Protection and Restoration" with the Third Institute of Oceanography, MNR in 2022, ZEHO ECO has drafted three industry technical standards and undertaken multiple national-level research projects and ecological restoration initiatives. The release of this large model signifies a shift in ocean governance from singular engineering restoration towards a systemic transformation encompassing "ecological resilience building - economic value enhancement - societal collaborative participation."

Notably, the laboratory's concurrent "Digital Twin Coastal Zone" research system provides full-cycle digital support for coastal zone protection and restoration through high-precision remote sensing surveying and dynamic simulation technology. This will resonate technically with ShorelineGLM and lay the groundwork for its V2.0 version to achieve multimodal functionality. As digital twin technology and artificial intelligence deepen their integration, the future vision of sustainable ocean development is rapidly coming into focus.
