On October 14th, the 15th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (COP15) kicked off in Kunming, Yunnan Province. Representatives from nearly 200 countries and regions around the world came to the “City of Spring” to protect the earth’s biodiversity and create a new picture of “harmony between man and nature”. On the same day, the Ecological Civilization Forum of COP15 opened, and Beijing ZEHO Waterfront Ecological Environment Treatment Co., Ltd. (referred to as ZEHO ECO), as a co-organizer of the forum, was invited to present a keynote speech and talk about Nature-based Solutions.

The theme of COP15 is “Ecological Civilization—Building a Share Future for All Life on Earth”. This is the first global meeting the UN has ever held under the theme of “Ecological Civilization”. The first phase of the meeting includes the opening ceremony, closing ceremony, ministerial meeting, ecological civilization forum and other events. Among all eight parallel events of the meeting, the Ecological Civilization Forum is the only one held for the duration of the meeting.

Zhang Yijun, board chairperson of ZEHO ECO, was invited to attend the opening ceremony and high-level meeting of the conference, and listened to the keynote speech of the state president at the COP15 summit. As a representative of participating enterprises, Zhang Yijun, on behalf of ZEHO ECO, accepted interviews from many authoritative media such as CCTV News and People’s Daily during the meeting.

On October 14th, on the sub-forum themed “Ecological Protection and Restoration with Nature-based Solutions of the Ecological Civilization Forum, ZEHO ECO’s vice president Xing Lei delivered a keynote speech entitled Ecological Restoration Practice of Nature-based Solutions (NbS) in the Erhai Lake Riparian Buffer Zone as an entrepreneurial representative, explaining NbS measures and their applications through the case of Dali’s Erhai Lake from a practical perspective, summarizing experiences of success, and providing inspirations and reference for biodiversity protection and the harmonious coexistence between man and nature.

The ecological restoration ZEHO ECO affected in Erhai Lake is of exemplary significance for protecting biodiversity in river and lake areas. From lake shore ecological recovery and water purification to activating the overall sustainable circular development of the Erhai Lake Basin, Mr. Xing’s speech demonstrated the efforts and achievements of the ZEHO ECO team in the ecological restoration project of the Erhai Lakefront.

ZEHO ECO’s speeches at the Ecological Civilization Forum won the attention and appreciation of the experts present. Mr. Xing said that he will continue to lead ZEHO ECO’s professional team to cooperate with relevant institutions and experts around the world, carry out NbS and actively explore innovative ways to protect biodiversity to contribute to the fulfillment of the beautiful aspiration of harmonious coexistence between man and nature.
